Infor S3 and Infor M3
Lawson Software has one of the largest enterprise resource planning (ERP) suites coupled with more than 4,000 employees stationed in over 40 countries around the world and serves more than 4,500 customers. They offer a variety of industry-specific solutions for small, medium and large enterprises. Lawson was recently acquired by Infor but still innovates on their wide range of ERP applications and solutions. Oracle and SAP are the only ERP solutions providers larger than Infor.
Lawson has two main product lines: Infor S3 and Infor M3. Infor S3 was developed to help service industries “staff, source and serve”. The major target industries include healthcare, retail, public and financial services. In addition, the Infor M3 product line is for industries that “make, move or maintain processes”. Some of these clients are in the business sectors of manufacturing and distribution. Typically, Infor S3 is utilized within the US corporate infrastructures and Infor M3 is utilized primarily outside the United States.
In addition, industry-specific applications, which Lawson offers can be found among equipment for construction and mining and teacher aids for school districts.

History
Lawson was founded in 1975. It has become a leading enterprise software company, over the last 30 years, with over 4,500 customers in 68 countries. It is different in the market by offering a unique application and capability for specific business sectors. Infor Global Solutions, in 2011, acquired Lawson Software.
Acquisition of Lawson by Infor
In April 2011, Infor acquired Lawson Software with an overarching deal nearing $2 billion in value. Infor’s president of products, Duncan Angove, said the purchase gives Infor a strategic opportunity to target small- and medium-sized manufacturers with this all-encompassing enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution.
As a result of this acquisition, the Lawson S3 product was rebranded as Infor S3. In a similar fashion, the Lawson M3 product was rebranded as Infor M3.
